2021 Red Hill Chardonnay, Port Phillip Estate, Mornington Peninsula
Tasting note
If you enjoy White Cote d'Or, you'll love this!
Really classy and elegant, with a flinty note on the nose leading into flavours of peach, melon and grapefruit. This has a lovely rich texture balancing the intense acidity which give this more than a passing resemblance to a fine Puligny.
Our thoughts
Port Phillip place focus on sustainability and the improvement of soil biology with various natural soil and plant conditioners. Their practices in the winery are also minimalist. Really classy and elegant, with a flinty note on the nose leading into flavours of peach, melon and grapefruit, this has a lovely rich texture evoking the class of Puligny.

There’s a brilliant entry to the 2021 Chardonnay Red Hill that is full of personality. It displays a rich core of peach melba and floral tones against a vanillin oak background. Subtle flinty flavors shine through against a backdrop of complex citrus underpinned by vibrant acidity. An overall delicacy in taste suggests this will be its best over the medium rather than the long term.
