2023 Chablis, Domaine Louis Moreau
Tasting note
Floral nose with apples and pears. The palate is fresh and steely with fine minerality.
Our thoughts
The Moreau family arrived in Chablis in 1814. Now run by the 6th generation, Louis, who qualified in oenology from Fresno State University in California, they own 52 hectares. A small portion of the wine spends two months in new oak to soften the great power of the vineyards. The palate is fresh and steely with fine minerality

The 2023 Chablis Village has a simple, slightly plain bouquet with apple peelings and loamy scents, but overall, it lacks some vigor. The palate is slightly waxy on the entry and has a modest weight. The 2023 is pretty pithy, and a bit of extract imparts more complexity on the finish. Overall, this is a decent Chablis Village. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.
