The third edition of Octomore 10 Year Old takes a slightly different path to its predecessors. Distilled from Scottish grown Optic barley and peated to 167 ppm, it is matured in a range of casks featuring Port, Cognac, ex-American whiskey and Virgin Oak casks. Rich, with chocolate, tobacco, bonfire smoke and leather. Underlying vanilla custard and pear drops poke through with time. Warming and spicy, a sweet, malty core is wrapped up in earthy peat smoke. The cask influence is more apparent on the palate, with coconut, tobacco and vanilla balancing the persistent, intense peat smoke. Bottled unchill-filtered and colouring free at 56.8% ABV. Limited to 12,000 bottles.
