Nikka Pure Malt Red Blended Malt Whisky, 43% ABV (50CL)
Nikka Pure Malt red is made in hommage to the early malt whiskies produced by Nikka. With a majority of whisky coming from the Miyagikyo distillery, there is a beautifully soft, delicate and round character to this whisky. Typically the malts from Miyagikyo are fresh, vibrant and slightly herbal compared to the peated, richer and oily malts from Yoichi. Fresh fruit on the nose, with peaches, cherries and raspberries in particular leaping out from the glass, with a tickle of fresh cut grass too. Swathes of fruit on the palate, which is slightly toastier and richer than the nose, with stewed cherries. Still very fresh, with soft summer fruits and a whisper of peat smoke on the finish.
