N.V. Taittinger Prestige Rose (Magnum)

France Champagne

A complex bouquet of freshly crushed wild raspberries, cherries and blackcurrants. Tangy and sharply focused, with medium-weight red berry and cherry flavors underscored by zesty minerals. Finishes clean and brisk, with the floral note echoing. This is more about delicacy than richness, and works exceptionally well as an aperitif. 70% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay.

Based on the Brut Reserve, with the addition of red wines largely produced in-house (from sites including Les Riceys), the latest release of Taittinger’s NV Brut Prestige Rosé is showing very well, bursting with aromas of raspberries, red berries, brioche, rose petals and blood orange. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, broad and comparatively textural, with good depth at the core and a chalky, gently phenolic and distinctly sapid finish.

The NV Brut Rose Prestige is gorgeous. It shows lovely length and focus in an understated style that is quite appealing. There is tons of depth to the fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The Rose Prestige can be enjoyed as an aperitif, but it also has enough body to pair beautifully with a wide range of foods. This is a great version of the house’s Rose. This is Lot L1204SZ07700. Disgorged May 2011 (not indicated on label). Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.
