Grosperrin Heritage N.67 Petite Champagne Cognac, Bottled Oct 2023 (70CL)
This very old cognac, with a guaranteed minimum age of 37 years, comes from an undivided estate created when the 89-year-old winemaker’s wife died. The stocks from this inheritance have aged peacefully in the family winery on the banks of the Néé river in the Archiac region, a remarkable terroir, before joining Grosperrin's cellars in June 2015.
Amber colour. An incredible Petite Champagne, full of sweetness and complexity. To smell, notes of old cognac and delicate rancio, with a lingering mineral aspect. On the palate, the first taste is very
balanced, soft without being sweet. It announces a great cognac, which is confirmed thereafter. Bunch of dried flowers, tubers, liquorice. The aftertaste puts the consecutive woody notes of several
decades of undergrowth into perspective; other more subtle notes then appear: rose, vegetable garden in autumn, fine mineral notes, quite indescribable. A great delicacy, a fine example of the best of
Petite Champagne.
