Intense, stone fruit nose with a touch of matchstick edginess. The palate is ripe, showing peach and apricot fruit notes. This is a complex, full bodied Chardonnay with plenty of texture and character.

The Offshoot wines from Hunter's are where they experiment in the vineyard and winery to try and create something a bit different. Chardonnay from Marlborough is a hidden gem in any case, and this particular example is a triumph! Spontaneous fermentation in 30% new large oak casks, paired with twelve months of lees ageing, has resulted in a wine to rival the Burgundians in power and intrigue.
