2018 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere, Domaine Bachelet-Monnot (6 x Bottle)

France Burgundy Cote de Beaune

The 2018 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Rouge is perfumed and floral on the nose, crushed rose petals infuse the brambly red berry fruit laced with iodine and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, quite saline in the mouth with a harmonious, almost understated finish. Just a slight attenuation but that is because it is soon after bottling.

Vinous

The 2018 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Rouge contains 30% whole-bunch fruit that according to the domaine always gives good acidity levels. It has a generous bouquet of black cherries and raspberry aromas, much more vigorous than the Bourgogne Rouge. The whole bunch works really well here; the palate is very well balanced with sappy red fruit and fine acidity, and succulent and quite saline toward the finish. This comes highly recommended.
