2018 Dolcetto d’Alba, Luciano Sandrone (6 x Bottle)

Italy Piedmont

The 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba is elegant, super-refined and all class. The 2018 shows all the richness that is typical of the Sandrone Dolcetto, but in a more slender style that is actually very appealing. There is plenty of varietal character in the dark fruit, spice and licorice flavors, but the 2018 is more about persistence than size. I loved it.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Tasted from the vat, the 2018 Dolcetto d’Alba has a fresh and classic profile, a lightweight expression reflective of the cooler growing season that followed a torrid 2017. There was even a bit of snow on the ground to contend with during the early buds of spring 2018 and plenty of cool rain that initially caused some worries. But the harvest came on time, more or less, in mid to late September, and the result was definitely a snappier and leaner Dolcetto d’Alba than we are used to. This is probably a wine for pizza night: I’m envisioning toppings of pancetta, onion and spinach.
