2018 Chablis 1er Cru, Vaillons, Domaine Louis Moreau (6 x Bottle)
The 2018 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru comes from 4 hectares of 70-year-old vines and is aged on the lees for 8–10 months. It has a fine bouquet of orange pith, peach skin and powdered chalk aromas – far more involving and complex than the Fourneaux that I tasted in tandem. The palate is well balanced, with pineapple and guava on the entry, and quite rich and generous, though the acidity keeps everything tight. Plenty of tropical fruit on the finish. This is a decent Chablis that will have wide appeal.
