2018 Chablis, 1er Cru, Les Lys, Domaine William Fevre (6 x Bottle)

France Burgundy Chablis

The 2018 Chablis Les Lys 1er Cru has a crisp, fresh, taut nose that is probably more terroir-driven than the Beauroy I tasted alongside. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and quite elegant, in keeping with the style of this vineyard. There is fine persistence on the finish. Recommended.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

From one of the cooler premiers crus, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Les Lys was one of the domaine’s last picks this year, and it’s showing very well, revealing classic aromas of citrus oil, green apple, oyster shell and smoke. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with an incipiently textural attack and good concentration.

Vinous

The 2018 Chablis Les Lys 1er Cru is powerful and densely constituted, with a real sense of vertical intensity and gravitas. Ample and also a touch rustic, the Lys does not have the finesse of some of the other wines in this range, but it certainly has tons of character and breadth. The 2018 was racked just prior to this tasting, but it comes across as hearty.
