Even Ogier’s 2017 IGP Collines Rhodaniennes La Rosine Syrah looks impressive, blending ashy notes with raspberries and black olives. It’s medium to full-bodied, with a silky, drink-now texture and plenty of length on the finish. It should drink well on release and for 5-6 years thereafter.

Vinous

Lurid ruby. Powerful aromas of ripe black/blue fruits, licorice, olive and potpourri, along with intense spicy overtone. Coats the palate with fleshy cassis and boysenberry flavors. A suave violet pastille nuance builds in the glass. Velvety tannins add shape to a long, spice-accented finish that shows very good focus and repeating florality.

Vinous

Deep violet. Assertive, spice-accented red and blue fruit aromas are complemented by building spice and floral accents. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering palate-caressing raspberry, mulberry and violet pastille flavors given a spicy edge by a jolt of cracked pepper. Smooth tannins lend gentle grip to a long, energetic finish that echoes the red fruit note.
