2017 St Joseph Rouge, Domaine du Tunnel (Bottle)

Brilliant violet. Smoky and expansive on the nose, displaying ripe dark berry, licorice and violet aromas and a hint of cracked pepper. Sweet, seamless and smooth on the palate, offering pliant black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors and a sweetening suggestion of cola. Becomes nervier with air and finishes spicy and long, with slow-building tannins adding shape and grip.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2017 Saint Joseph is a blend from vineyards located in Glun, Mauves and Tournon. Tasted from barrel, it offers up hints of violets, licorice and black raspberries. Medium to full-bodied, it’s ripe, concentrated and softly dusty on the finish.

As close to a vin de soif as you’ll find at this address, the 2017 Saint Joseph delivers lively cherry and blackberry fruit, framed by hints of crushed stone and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, with velvety-ripe tannins, it finishes with juicy, mouthwatering acidity and ample length.
