Vinous

The 2017 Noble Late Harvest Riesling was picked at 35 Brix (residual sugar is 190gm/L) and is the first release for three years. It has a slightly backward nose at first, opening gradually with aeration to reveal dried honey, quince and light adhesive. The palate is very well balanced with quite sharp acidity that counters the rich honeyed fruit. It is not the most complex sweet South African wine I’ve encountered, yet it is nicely focused and the sharp, refreshing finish belies the actual residual sugar level.

Vinous

The 2017 Noble Late Harvest has a straightforward bouquet of dried honey and quince aromas. The palate is unctuous in texture, with honey and quince notes, but it does not possess the complexity of other South African desert wines and feels just a little cloying on the finish.
