Peter Mitchell MW describes this as ‘strawberry jam on toast’, which is pretty much exactly what it tastes like. Very slightly stewed – I would drink it now and not keep it a minute longer – but I like the smoky chipotle note, tomato jam. Tannins like a plump old sofa. Like the 2019 (which is in the summer offer at the same price), a good wine for Chinese five-spice and sweet-umami-rich soy-based sauces.
