2017 Chateau Lafleur Gazin, Pomerol (6 x Bottle)

France Bordeaux Pomerol

The 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is plump, juicy and wonderfully inviting in 2017. Cedar, pipe tobacco, cinnamon and dried flowers add lovely top notes to the bright, red-toned fruit in this mid-weight, gracious Pomerol. Best of all, the 2017 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. This is a very pretty, gracious wine.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is 100% Merlot with very alluring floral notes of violets, roses and raspberry leaves over a core of red and black currants, blackberries and incense plus a waft of damp soil. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and full of flavors, with grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a perfumed note.

Vinous

The 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is bold, juicy and forward, with terrific balance and class. Ripe, racy and voluptuous, the 2017 fills out beautifully in the glass. Soft, silky tannins add to an impression of plushness. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, flowers and new leather meld together in this decidedly sumptuous, racy Pomerol. All the elements simply fall into place. In 2017 Lafleur-Gazin is an effortless, sumptuous Pomerol.

Vinous

The 2017 Lafleur-Gazin has a light bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and damp earthy/woodland aromas that need to muster more intensity but frankly, it’s just not in the mood. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of red fruit tinged with dried blood and meat juice, quite a ferrous Pomerol with pleasing depth towards the finish. Not bad overall, but certainly a wine that I would consume within its first decade.
