2016 St Joseph, Domaine de la Croix des Vignes (Jaboulet) (6 x Bottle)

France Rhone North Rhone

Inky ruby. Expressive dark fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied flowers, olive and candied licorice, and a bright mineral nuance adds vivacity. Fleshy and open-knit, offering appealingly sweet blueberry and cassis flavors that show very good depth as well as energy and spicy lift. Manages to be both rich and lively and shows no rough edges. Finishes very long and smooth, the gentle tannins playing nicely with the wine's plush fruit.

The red-fruited 2016 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes features cherry and olive notes. It’s rich and velvety across the medium to full-bodied mid-palate, turning crisp and tart on the finish. Drink now through 2030.

Vinous

(20% new oak) Deep lurid ruby. Vibrant black raspberry, cola and mineral aromas are complemented by an exotic Moroccan spice accent. Palate-staining black and blue fruit liqueur flavors show excellent depth and focus, and hints of licorice and salty olive paste build in the glass. Sweet and seamless on the impressively long, incisive finish, which echoes the blue fruit note; subtle, harmonious tannins lend gentle grip.
