2016 Chateau Pindefleurs, St Emilion Grand Cru

The 2016 Pindefleurs offers good immediacy in a ripe, racy yet mid-weight style. Sweet red cherry, new oak, spice and white chocolate add to the wine's distinctly flamboyant flavor and textural profile. Medium in body and wonderfully persistent, the 2016 has a lot to offer. Bright floral notes add perfume to this engaging, creamy Saint-Émilion. Élevage has done quite a bit to give the wine balance. Specifically, the oak is now far better integrated than it was en primeur. Tasted two times.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Pindefleurs has a medium garnet-purple color and offers black cherries, mulberries, plums and fragrant earth notions on the nose with wafts of tobacco and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, it gives a good amount of warm berry flavors and a chewy frame in the mouth with a savory finish.

90 Points / Drinking 2019 - 2030

By Lisa Perrotti-Brown / November 2018

Vinous

The 2016 Pindefleurs is an attractive midweight Saint-Émilion that shows a more restrained side of the vintage. Sweet floral, tobacco and savory notes lead into a core of bright red-toned fruits. Delicate and gracious in its overall feel, the Pindefleurs should drink nicely pretty much upon release. I would like to see the oak a bit more integrated, though. Tasted two times.

Vinous

The 2016 Pindefleurs has a rich, generous bouquet of forward kirsch and blueberry aromas that soar from the glass. This is quite decadent in style but retains admirable delineation. The palate is smooth on the entry, offering plush dark cherries flecked with cocoa, and showing a little more density on the finish, which leaves a note of bay leaf on the aftertaste. This should give immense pleasure over the next decade.
