The 2016 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a feisty, energetic bouquet with plenty of citrus fruit, Granny Smith apple and subtle walnut aromas that combine neatly with the oak. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, hints of red cherry underneath the almond veneer, though I would have liked more terroir expression and depth on the finish. Still, this is a Grand Cru that deserves two or three years in the cellar. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting.
