The 2015 Rosso di Montalcino Sogni e Follia is a lean red wine that opens to a luminous ruby color. This was a warm vintage and you do taste the softness and richness of the fruit with bold cherry and wild raspberry. The bouquet is inviting and graceful. I am slightly less enthusiastic regarding mouthfeel because of the wine’s tannins, which show some astringency. I can see why this wine is released one or two years after its peers. It evidently needs that extra time to reach a better place of integration and balance. Some 25,000 bottles were made.
