2014 Pavillon de Poyferre, St. Julien (12 x Bottle)
The 2014 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is a lovely second wine. Soft and open-knit, the 2014 gives a good idea of the style of the year at the estate. Dark red and purplish fruit, violet and sweet spice are nicely pushed forward in this attractive second wine. Drink fruity drunk it up

Vinous
The 2014 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré has a slightly volatile bouquet that is missing some focus and cohesion. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, conservative and traditional with austere black fruit, quite gravelly and tobacco-driven towards the classic finish. Gentleman’s claret I guess, but not from the mahogany top-drawer. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
