Vinous

The 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was matured for 17 months in 50% new oak. It exhibits more freshness and delineation than the 2013 Reserve Merlot, offering scents of blackberry, raspberry and a light marine/seaweed aroma that develops with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, quite firm and solid in the mouth, and preserves a pleasing sense of focus and freshness toward the finish when it could have been overbearing. There is a sense of control about this Cabernet that I appreciate, and it should repay bottle age.
