Robert Parker Wine Advocate

I always feel like I’ve entered a vinous fairyland when I taste the wines made at Podere le Ripi. These are highly distinctive expressions that offer flurries of the unreal and unexpected. In the case of the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Cielo d’Ulisse, the aromas dart around like Tinker Bell touching on red cherry, raspberry, licorice, cola and grilled herb. Each one of those characteristics is suddenly made bright and alive as if by a magic wand. A new vineyard parcel was recently purchased on the eastern side of the Brunello appellation, and fruit for this wine comes from this new, biodynamic site.
