2010 Bruichladdich Organic Barley Single Malt Whisky, 50% ABV (70CL)

Sourced from a single farm in Inverness, the 2010 Bruichladdich Organic Barley continues the exploration of barley that is somewhat of a signature move of Bruichladdich. On the Mid Coul farm, Dalcross, William Rose grows barley once every seven years, with other crops rotating every year. This lends the barley a unique character that head distiller, Adam Hannett, wants to capture in this whisky. Showing lots of fresh malted barley on the nose, with floral notes of gorse and heather, alongside the signature Bruichladdich crisp apple and pear flavour. Somewhat predictably the flavours here focus on cereal: barley sugar and rye overlap one another, with buttered popcorn and vanilla pastry popping in too. It finishes with a lovely sweet lemon touch, subtle oak char and pure malted barley. Immensely enjoyable.
