Campbeltown, once the “whisky capital of the world,” was home to 30 distilleries during the Victorian era. Today only three remain, but the town still holds a special place for whisky lovers. Glen Scotia distillery, established in 1832, has been a cornerstone of the town. With nearly 200 years of whisky-making, its quality has reached new heights, winning “World’s Best Single Cask Single Malt” at the 2023 World Whisky Awards.
On a recent visit, our Spirits buyer, Dr. James Phillips, was particularly impressed with the quality of Glen Scotia’s single cask whiskies. The distillery’s spirit consistently stands out with its fruity, saline, and oily character. For Jeroboams, James selected a 1st Fill Tawny Port Hogshead, which beautifully combines fresh, fruity port flavors with Glen Scotia’s signature notes—creating a truly exceptional whisky.
