2017 Moss Wood Pinot Noir

“Strawberry, quince jelly, roses and cherries with hints of earth, cumin and light, toasty oak notes. The palate has medium body with bright strawberry and red cherry flavours sitting over fine tannins. Intense and complex yet supremely elegant.”

Peter Mitchell MW

A classic since it began life in the late 70’s, Moss Wood’s Pinot Noir is usually sold almost entirely to the world’s top restaurants. However, the unusual circumstances of 2020 have meant we have access to more of this brilliant wine than usual. The wider access also means we can offer a special one off price!

As regular Moss Wood drinkers, we’ve experienced this wine at all stages of life and can confirm it is immensely enjoyable in youth as well as having a track record of improving in bottle over a decade or more (the 2002 tasted last November was mind blowing!)

Winemaker Keith Mugford, who has just completed his 42nd vintage at Moss Wood, believes the 2017 to have reached the heights of his previous ‘best ever’ Pinot: 1990. He also reckons this one will last a good 30 years… that’s if you can resist drinking it for that long!
