Leading lights of La Morra, Voerzio Martini, craft super fine Barolo from some of the most prestigious vineyards. In some of these vineyards they have another grape planted, indigenous variety “Freisa.” A close but little-known relative of Nebbiolo, with “the capability of producing mesmerising wines” according to Decanter, it is slowly making a comeback, which we are hugely excited about. This ancient red grape variety traces its history back to the 16th century, and produces a range of styles, exhibiting aromas and flavours that are eloquently complex, vivacious, and undeniably moreish.
Voerzio Martini’s Freisa is made in a semi-sparkling frizzante style, and is downright delicious. From high-altitude old vines, and completely unoaked, ultra-modern winemaking means the bubbles are entirely natural, there is no added CO2 here! Chilled down slightly, this is THE perfect wine for light summer lunches and barbecues, but equally could be served as an alternative to your Friday night aperitif… it will surely get your guests talking.
At £65 per 6 bottles in bond, equivalent to £15.68 on your table including duty and VAT, this is a steal.
