As well as fine wine, many of our shops sell fine food – making them your one-stop shop for a bit of al-fresco dining. Our Holland Park Manager, Hetty Hubberstey, picks out five favourites to add to your basket…

As a French Wine Scholar (of the Wine Scholar Guild) and unapologetic gourmand, I cut my teeth in wine while working in five-star luxury ski chalets in my early twenties. There I learned the fundamentals of wine tasting and food pairing – and became hooked. So on my return to London I took my WSET exams while working in another, far less fun industry, before finally taking the plunge and pursuing what I really wanted to be doing, joining the wine trade two years ago.

My role at Jeroboams is to make sure that the lovely folk of Holland Park have access to the finest curated selection of specialty food, cheese and wine in the area – and of course, receive a stellar service from my wonderful team. With that in mind, I’ve picked out my five summer essentials that I’ll be enjoying, come rain or shine…

Findlaters Smoked Mackerel Paté with Coriander Leaf & Lemon

Perfect for picnics, this delicious paté is packed with high-quality ingredients, and remains deliciously light. A small luxury to add to your lunch (and usually mine too). Try it on some toasted rye bread if at home of or a rustic baguette if enjoying out in the wilds of W11.

24-month-aged Comte

A firm favorite for me and a permanent fixture in my fridge. Both creamy and nutty, this moorish cheese takes pride of place on any cheese board. Try it in place of cheddar in your recipes – trust me…

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Morisfarms

Grown in the family olive groves of one of my favourite Italian wine producers (who you may well recognise from the shelves at Jeroboams) this beautiful olive oil is a blend of three olive varietals, Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiola. Its spicy, grassy and peppery flavour makes for the ultimate dipping oil for some crusty bread, or liberally drizzled on your summer salads and gazpacho

2018 Julienas, Domaine de la Conseillere, Château de Fuissé

A serious Cru Beaujolais, this wine massively punches above its weight. It’s quickly become a ‘house wine’ for me and always goes down a treat with guests. With its depth of flavour, structure and bottle age, this is a truly great value alternative to red Burgundy, and still light enough to enjoy as a summer pour.

2015 La Grande Dame Rosé x Paola Paronetto, Veuve Clicquot

An indulgence? Well yes, but as someone who is relatively rosé adverse, this is one I truly adore. If you are after the ultimate summer party aperitif, or need something really special to raise a toast with, this is perfect. The finest mousse of any Champagne I can remember, with bags of complexity, it’s a seriously great vintage fizz that is drinking supremely well now (and will just keep getting better over the next 10 years).
